  Benz Micro intros new cartridges and Micro-ridge stylus. Received in March the first of the Gullwing cartridges and the new Ruby Z and Ruby ZH cartridges. The Gullwing is a hybrid of the LP S class, Ruby and Glider cartridges. Like the LP S class, it uses a brass frame and is Rhodium plated for superior electrical characteristics and to visually distinguish it from the Glider (gold plated aluminum). The generator is based on the Ruby square plate and available in both .35mV and .7mV. The SLR low output is best used with phono stages offering greater than 60dB gain, loaded at 400 ohms or higher. The SHR at .7mV is ideal for tube phono stages in the 50-60dB gain range, less efficient systems, and prefers a 47kohm load.
  
 
Ruby Z and Ruby ZH upgrade these famous models to full "S class" status. They feature the new Zebra wood body, second only to Ebony for its resonance characteristics, offering bass weight and pitch definition, midrange linearity and high frequency clarity with a natural musicality. The new Micro-ridge stylus is featured, providing enhanced trackability, resolution and groove integrity. The generator is based on the Ruby square plate and available in both .35mV and .7mV outputs. The Ruby Z low output is best used with phono stages offering greater than 60dB gain, loaded at 400 ohms or higher. The ZH at .7mV is ideal for tube phono stages in the 50-60dB gain range, less efficient systems, and prefers a 47kohm load.		  
 
We have a good supply of Graham Engineering Phantom II in chrome finish with the choice of Graham Fixed Mount (GFM) or SME bases, your choice of 9" or 10" Titanium armwands, and IC70 1.5m tonearm cables. These now feature the Micropoise VTA leveling system. The Phantom II confirms Graham's position as the world's best uni-pivot tonearm.
 
  We off Phantom II armwand as a "field upgrade". The 10" version is best suited for turntables using peripheral clamps, such as the Clearaudio Outer Limit. Existing Graham owners can easily upgrade to a 10" arm on all Clearaudio tables using the "Solution" style armboard including the Master Reference and Reference turntables.  
 
Michael Fremer "Highly Recommends" the Fozgometer Azimuth Range Meter in the just released May 2010 Stereophile issue. Even before the review hit, it sold out of the first 100 pieces. There are another 200 in production with availability later this spring. The Fozgometer is an invaluable tool for turntable set-up people, and serious analog aficionados. The Absolute Sounds calls this a "must have accessory".

The TaraLabs range extends down to more affordable cables as well in every configuration needed. Regardless of the price TaraLabs is an incredible value in cables.

 
 


Enoy the Music gives the Harmonic Technology Photon digital cable their Best of 2010 award. This is my favorite digital cable. Rick Becker gushes, "The Harmonic Technology Photon Digital Cable brought such sonic purity to CD playback that it challenged my belief that I needed to upgrade my vintage Muse DAC. Quick on the attack as well as the decay, the space between the notes was silent except for the micro-dynamics of low level room tone when present on the recording. ... the Photon created a large and transparent soundscape with exquisite detail and delineation of position. ... I could hear more of the music and I was more engaged by it. Though it is completely neutral, it caters particularly well to left brain analytical type listeners. .... I don't normally endorse such expensive cables, but Jim Wang's Photon Digital, with it's extraordinary application of opto electrical isolation technology, forces me to break my own rule.

Analysis Plus has been a standard with the pro world with musicians and fast being seen as a real boon to the consumer audio world. Especially for their digital cables. With Hollow Oval Design, The Analysis Plus hollow oval design clearly uses the conductor more efficiently, and the result is shown in the measured resistance. The hollow oval cables maintain a low resistance value, even at 20 kHz, where the resistance of the round cable has increased dramatically. This increased resistance and slow rise time rolls off the high frequencies, which leads to the difference between the measured signal at the amp and the signal measured at the speaker terminals. This design principle is utilized throughout the Analysis Plus product line, and is the reason why hollow oval cables look and sound better than any competitor’s products

Magico V2 Speaker - Soundstage Magazine is just one of dozens of rave reviews: I don’t have $18,000 to spend on a pair of speakers, but I have strong advice for those who do: If topflight sound from a moderately sized floorstander is what you want, Magico’s beautifully built V2 more than delivers. Magico Q Speaker - as Scott Walker states: The brand new Q loudspeaker system from Magico has many Magico firsts; to begin with, it uses all-Magico-designed drivers including a brand-new, in-house-built inverted dome tweeter that is said to extend upper-end frequency response to well beyond 50kHz at lower distortion levels and higher transmission speeds than Magico's superb MR-1 ring-radiator tweeter. Secondly, the cabinet is all-aluminum of extraordinary sophistication and beauty (see the Magico website for photos of the incredibly elaborate cross-bracing inside the box.) Arcam is a well regarded British company with a storied history in the audio and video world. Their AVR600 is a winner. As a reviewer put it, The Arcam AVR600 is one of the best receivers I’ve heard from any brand. It’s built like a tank, it’s unfailingly musical, and it just plain feels right. It is also one of the few receivers I’ve reviewed that could probably dominate a large room with speakers of average sensitivity—I say probably only because I don’t have access to a large room. Dolby Volume is a plus, although it’s largely for low-level movie and TV listening. The remote and front panel are decidedly austere, but apart from that, this product makes a strong case for its price tag. It proves that high end home theater and audiophile receiver are not contradictory terms.

 
 



Marantz is legendary in the audio world and while the days of 1960s tube glory are alive again in some sepecial reissues like the MA-9S2 Reference Monaural Power Amplifier, the newest lines continue to collect awards. Reviews like: Viewed simply as a preamp this controller is close to state-of-the-art; considering that you also get a full multi-channel decoder and Audyssey processor it is almost ideal for a mixed music and theater system. - Tom Martin and The IS301 is at its very best for music playback, where the IS301’s innovative and portable Bluetooth handset lets you control playback directly from the iPod’s own user interface—an option not all competing docks allow.-Chris Martens and Add to this a refinement that matches the ritzy fit and finish and you're looking at one of the best sub-$5k integrated amps available.   Oyaide has long been synonymous with the high end exotic power cords, duplexes and conditioners. We offer the entire line including the hot new C-004 Beryllium Copper/ Platinum, Palladium Plated IECs and 3-prong plugs, The F1/M1 AC IECs and 3-prong plugs. Plug set made with Beryllium Copper contacts and plated with 0.5 microns of Platinum followed by 0.3 microns of Palladium. Oyaide's all-out assault on State-of-the-Art. "We thoroughly tested several dozen combinations of plating methods, selecting the very best, platinum + palladium, for our flagship model, the F1/M1. The first layer is 0.5 µ (microns) of Platinum, followed by the second layer of Palladium which is 0.3 µ in thickness. The initial shaping of the contact is done via an automated mill. This is followed by a manual polishing which is done before the first direct plating layer and again before the final plating. This process is unique and unparalleled and achieves a mirror finish. The use of Beryllium Copper provides a high level of conductivity and at the same time a high level of mechanical integrity, both appropriate qualities for a flagship level product. Heat treatment is applied to enhance its machine-ability. Its rigidity and thickness (1.0mm thick and 6.0mm wide) increases the holding capacity of the plug to 8kg and minimizes vibrations which would otherwise degrade the transmission of energy."

And their new P/I-CF series Made by Acrolink, the CF series represents the ultimate in AC connectivity. Contacts are polished Phosphor Bronze with twice polished 1.5 micron thick Gold plating followed by 0.3 micron Palladium plating. Carbon fiber outer barrel absorbs EMI and stray electrons making it the quietest AC connector available today.
